The Lions’ focus is back on the Emirates FA Cup with a trip to Brackley Town on Saturday, Joe Priestley previews the fourth round qualifying tie.
For at least one Vanarama National League North side, the first round proper of the Emirates FA Cup beckons, for The Lions there is only the small task of beating the current league leaders to get there. A Guiseley side coming into form on all fronts travel to Brackley to take on a side that arguably couldn’t be in a better position, and as we all know, in cup football anything can happen.
The Lions
Guiseley are coming off the back of a convincing win against Leamington and a respectable victory over Blyth Spartans. Regan Hutchinson, Jamie Spencer and Jordan Thewlis have arguably been the three standout performers of the past few games, all contributing with goals and plenty of creativity in recent weeks. Andy Kellett remains uncertain but can’t be far away after a period on the sidelines, there are no new major injury concerns.
Brackley Town
Brackley had to work a bit harder to get through the last round of the cup, but ultimately they showed their class over two fixtures against a spirited Hanley Town side who pushed them all the way. All in all, only Fylde could challenge Brackley for performances so far this league season with the saints having lost just the once this campaign. Their most recent game was not too dissimilar to Guiseley’s, a comfortable 2-0 win away at Kidderminster. Lee Ndlovu is always a threat for our hosts and keep an eye out for the ever skilful Shepherd Murombedzi. Skipper Gaz Dean is a highly capable centre back and will take some beating.
