We’re back on the road on Saturday for a trip to Boston United’s new Jakemans Community Stadium and Joe Priestley previews our first visit to The Pilgrims’ new home.
Following our Emirates FA Cup detour to Colne last week, The Lions head to Boston for league action. Guiseley are hoping to leave their mark at Boston’s brand new stadium after mixed fortunes at the old York Street ground. The Pilgrims are always there or there abouts when it comes to the playoff picture and as such The Lions will certainly be tested as the classic fixture that has produced 9 goal thrillers and promotion battles over the years is reignited once again.
The Lions
Jordan Thewlis is likely to start against his former club having impressed in the Emirates FA Cup against Colne, his introduction to the game arguably being the difference between the win and a replay. Jamie Spencer was also one of Guiseley’s better performing players and will likely be in contention. Luke Jackson is expected to make his league debut. Andy Kellett is still recovering from the injury he sustained on matchday two against Curzon Ashton. There are no fresh concerns for The Lions when it comes to personnel and the full squad (barring the above mentioned Kellett) are likely to be in contention.
Boston United
The Pilgrims are currently sitting on six points after five games however they will be looking to build on positive results and pick up a third consecutive home win. There’s a smattering of former Lions amongst the Boston ranks, Jordon Preston, Scott Garner and George Sykes-Kenworthy are all on the Lincolnshire outfit’s books. United breezed through their Emirates FA Cup tie, putting six past Corby Town, but their last league fixture ended in a 2-0 defeat away at Leamington. Craig Elliot’s men are looking to make their new ground a fortress and kick on towards the play off places.
