2023/24 End of Season Dinner Award Winners

The End of Season Dinner took place at Otley Golf Club earlier this month where various awards were presented.

Sue Clapham started the night with a speech to thank everyone for their attendance before The Freda Collinson Rose Bowl, Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Adam Bridson to thank him for all his work within the Media Team across the season.

Before presenting the first team awards Liam Tongue reflected on a season he could never have imagined when he joined the club. On behalf of the board Trudi Hannaford also made a speech and thanked Sue Clapham for organising the evening.

Players and staff from the First Team were in attendance and all enjoyed a great evening to end the season.

The tables were once again set so that First Team players sat alongside the supporters with everyone in attendance having a good laugh and an enjoyable evening.

A new trophy was introduced this year, The John Bridson Lions Legend Award, James Pickles was named the first winner and was presented at the FC United of Manchester home game in April.

Kallan Murphy was named the Young Player of the Season by Liam Tongue , the forward made 46 appearances finding the net eight times.It is the second successive season the Irishman has won the award.

Jameel Ible, who sadly could not be there on the night, won the Sponsors’ Player of the Season as Prince Ekpolo bagged the GAFC Supporters’ Club Player of the Season.

Leigh Whelan took the crown of the Players’ Player of the Season on the night and finally Liam Tongue picked the central midfielder as his Player of the Season, to seal an impressive double haul on the night.

The night finished with an auction of a signed shirt from the John Bridson Tribute Match, Mark Lewis and Zoe Dickinson, after a strong bidding war, won the shirt for £500 before donating it back to the Bridson family.

Eric Waite Memorial Award, Manager’s Player of the Season – Leigh Whelan
Young Player of the Season Award, Michael Schofield Shield – Kallan Murphy
Freda Collinson Rose Bowl, Volunteer of the Season – Adam Bridson
The John Bridson Lions Legend Award – James Pickles

All funds raised from the event will be split between Guiseley AFC Supporters’ Club and the John Bridson Tribute Match fund to install a new tunnel at Nethermoor.
