Joe Priestley previews The Lions’ trip to Victory Park tonight as Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill’s men look for a quick return to winning ways.
On the road: Chorley F.C.
Tuesday 8th December – 7:45pm Kick Off
Victory Park, Chorley, PR7 3DU
After a late stumble against Brackley on Saturday, The Lions are back on the road with a trip to a ground that has its own place in Guiseley folklore. This season’s Lions will be hoping that the “never say die” attitude that the playoff winning team of 2015 had rubs off on them. Chorley host us once more at Victory Park fresh off the back of Emirates FA Cup fever in an important game near the bottom of the table.
The Lions
The return of Kaine Felix was a massive boost for Guiseley and the striker now appears to be firing on all cylinders ahead of the trip. Nathan Newall continues to impress at full-back. Lebrun Mbeka found the net with an all-powerful volley at the weekend and you’d like to hope for a repeat performance this time around, however difficult that may be. Andrai Jones has looked good since making his return in the win against Spennymoor. Andy Kellett limped off against Brackley and looks a doubt, a big blow for Guiseley.
Chorley
Chorley’s most shrewd decision of the off season was definitely keeping manager Jamie Vermiglio following relegation, he’s just picked up manager of the month. Chorley had a slow start to the campaign but are now waking up and have put in some decent performances lately, including an impressive FA Cup run that has earned them a trip to face Wayne Rooney’s Derby County. Former Guiseley defender, and former interim captain, Andy Halls could line up against his old club. On loan striker Connor Hall could pose a threat and is looking to impress his parent club Woking with a good run of performances. The magpies are coming off the back of a very impressive away win against title chasing Boston United.
