1911-12 Wharfedale FA Cup medal donated

As we continue our push to achieve promotion to the Blue Square Bet National, we are providing another chance to read about this one-off insight into Guiseley AFC history, first published 31st October 2012.

The Wharfedale FA Cup Losing Finalist’s medal presented to George Rawling was donated to the club by his Great Nephew Andrew Dalton and his Nephew Syd Dalton, both of whom are ex-Guiseley AFC players.

George, who played for the Lions before joining the West Yorkshire Regiment to fight for King and Country in the Great War, was, like many thousands of others, killed in France in 1916 at just 25 years old.

The photos show the medal and Vice-Chairman Phil Rogerson receiving it on behalf of the club from Andrew Dalton.
