We’re delighted to announce our 19/20 Young Player of the Season goes to Reiss McNally.
19 year-old Reiss McNally is the second person to pick up the Young Player of the Season Award after it was introduced at the end of last season.
McNally is the second defender to have won the award after Will Thornton was the first recipient.
Reiss has played an ever present role in The Lions’ defence throughout the 19/20 campaign slotting in at right back and centre back after he was brought to the club in summer from Marcus Bignot’s Solihull College and University Centre where he is studying a Sports Science degree.
We spoke to the 6ft 2 right back to get his thoughts on his second end of season award after he won the Players’ Player of the Season “It has been a good learning experience playing teams with with different styles and ability. I think it has allowed me to face challenges that will help me prepare for the future.”
“My first season in the league has had a lot of challenges but good experiences. I think being in a young team at Guiseley has helped everyone to try and learn quicker to prove something in the league as a group.”
Reiss was also named in the England C standby squad for a friendly with Wales C which was postponed following the Covid-19 outbreak “Being in the England contingency squad was a happy moment. I could see how I was playing was getting recognition, so it was definitely a proud moment.”
Congratulations Reiss!
