Our next 19/20 season award to be announced is the Guiseley AFC Academy Managers Player of the Season which goes to academy graduate Nathan Newall.
The 18 year-old left back has made 20 appearances for the academy this season striking five times as the Young Lions ended the season with first place in reach after it was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nathan is in his second year with the Young Lions having racked up 24 appearances last season too whilst getting four goals in the process.
Newall made his first competitive appearance for the senior squad on Non League Day as drew 1-1 to Altrincham at Nethermoor, he was also introduced as a sub in games against Kidderminster, Chester and Goole.
Shortly after his 18th birthday and debut for the first team the left back was awarded with his first contract with The Lions.
Speaking of the award Head of Academy & Youth Team Manager Dave Currie said: “Nathan has been a pleasure to work with over the past couple of years in the Academy and has been outstanding at times this season. He has been with the club since 14 years old and truly is “one of our own”. He now has to kick on and move from been Young Lion to a fully fledged Lion over the next season. Well done Nath!”
Nathan also expressed great joy in receiving the award but was also keen to acknowledge his teammates “I just want to say thank you for this award. Receiving this wouldn’t be possible without my teammates and the managers around me. I have really enjoyed being apart of the Academy squad the past 2 years, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again, working hard and trying to improve all aspects of my game.”
Congratulations Nathan!
