15 Love To The Lionesses

The Guiseley Lionesses produced an extraordinary attacking display, overwhelming their opponents 0–15 in a match that showcased their skill, cohesion, and ruthless efficiency in front of goal, writes Kelly Lambert.

From the opening whistle, the Lionesses set the tone — pressing high, moving the ball quickly, and using intelligent movement to dominate possession and create constant scoring opportunities.

The Lionesses got off to a lightning start. After just two minutes, Keegan Lambert opened the scoring with a stunning strike into the top-right corner, immediately signalling the team’s intent. Guiseley continued to dominate possession, moving the ball efficiently around the pitch and creating multiple chances, with Aleathia Smith and Jade Foster orchestrating incisive passes that stretched the defence. A cross from Heather Fisher found Lambert, who powered a header just over the bar. Moments later, Smith’s low shot from the edge of the box went narrowly wide. These early near-misses only served to increase the intensity of Guiseley’s attacks.

It wasn’t long before Lambert found the net again, finishing a well-timed through ball from Foster to make it 0–2.

Guiseley’s attacking flair shone through again just four minutes later when Lambert’s clever flick released Evans, who calmly converted her first goal of the match. The Lionesses’ fluid attacking play continued as Evans’ precise pass found Gill outside the box, and she lifted the ball over the goalkeeper for Guiseley’s fourth.

By the 22nd minute, Lambert had completed her hat-trick, turning sharply in the box and slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Guiseley didn’t stop there — Fisher curled a beautiful strike into the top-right corner for her first of the game.

Straight from the restart, Guiseley’s high press won the ball back, allowing Lambert to round the keeper and calmly slot home her fourth.

Guiseley rounded out a first half of dominance when a squared pass from Emily Gill fell perfectly to Lambert, allowing her to notch her fifth and leave the score at 0–8 by the break.

Second Half

Guiseley continued their relentless attacking approach after the break, with Fowler seeing her early chance saved. Just two minutes later, Foster sliced through four defenders with a brilliant solo run and threaded a pass for a shot that the keeper parried; the loose ball spilled away and the opposition broke forward, only for Foster to recover superbly and make a vital sliding tackle to halt the counter.

Lambert then added to her tally, completing a double hat-trick after Fisher carried the ball down the right wing and delivered a precise pass into her path. Smith continued to pull the strings in midfield, threading incisive through-balls. One of which found Lambert again in the 69th minute, allowing her to slot home calmly.

A rare scare arrived in the 76th minute when the opposition produced their best sight of goal, but Harriet Sutcliffe was alert and made a strong save to preserve the clean sheet. The Lionesses responded immediately: in the 78th minute, Freja Evans — now operating from the left wing — cut inside on a lively run and unleashed a low shot that left the keeper with no chance. A minute later, Evans struck again when Foster drove through midfield and slipped a pass wide for her, and she lashed in a superb finish from the left to make it two in quick succession.

Guiseley weren’t finished. In the 84th minute, Fisher threaded a pass for Eliza Marjoram, whose shot found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. Moments later, Jessica Bretherick squared the ball across the six-yard box, and Lambert was first to react — slotting home for her eighth goal of the afternoon. Fisher put the seal on a commanding performance in the 90th minute, finishing emphatically to make it 0–15 and complete a memorable team victory.

Guiseley delivered a complete team performance from start to finish, combining sharp movement, creative passing, and tireless work rate across the pitch. Their attacking rhythm was matched by solid defensive organisation, with every player contributing to both ends of the game.

The 0–15 scoreline reflected Guiseley’s dominance, discipline, and attacking philosophy and a showcase of the Lionesses’ talent, strategy, and teamwork.

Player of the match – Jade Foster

Foster was a standout performer and deservedly earned the Player of the Match award. Offensively, her vision and timing were exceptional, as she delivered several perfectly weighted through-balls that directly led to goals, including two assists for Evans and one for Lambert. She consistently found pockets of space, drawing defenders out of position and opening channels for her teammates to exploit. But her influence extended beyond attack—Foster tracked back diligently, breaking up opposition moves, pressing high to force turnovers, and supporting the defensive line when Guiseley lost possession. Her creativity, precise passing, and disciplined defensive work made her a pivotal player of the team, driving both Guiseley’s relentless attack and solid defensive stability.

Scorers Lambert (8), Evans (3), Fisher (2), Gill (1), Marjoram (1).
