Guiseley returned to BSN action at Boston today to resume their quest for promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier.
And after going behind, a brace from Kevin Holsgrove plus a Wayne Brooksby effort gave the Lions a deserved 3-1 win to leave them in second place, three points behind leaders Brackley with a game in hand.
The home side went ahead against the run of play on 28 minutes before the Lions lost defender Danny Ellis with a head injury, but the visitors were back on terms two minutes before the break when a route one clearance from Steve Drench was collected by Brooksby, who outpaced the home defence before chipping the keeper.
Boston nearly had a second as the half came to an end when they hit the post, but three minutes after the restart Holsgrove took advantage of indecision between the home ‘keeper and a defender to slot home, and he sealed the victory when an Andy Holdsworth free kick evaded everyone for the big striker to stroke home from the corner of the six-yard box.
