Jake joined the Lions midway through the 2012/13 season from Harrogate Railway.

An imposing central midfielder, who can also play at centre back, Jake impressed during a County Cup tie against the Lions while he also acquitted himself well during training.

Having struggled for match action early in his Guiseley career, Jake eventually forced his way into the first-team picture and was called upon to play at the heart of the defence more often. He showed impressive composure and physical presence and was rewarded with a contract extension to keep him at Nethermoor until the end of the 17/18 campaign.

After six years away from Nethermoor playing for Salford City, Wrexham, Harrogate Town, Hartlepool United and Darlington Lawlor returned to the club on 1st July 2024.

Of his return Lawlor said: “I cannot wait to get started back at Guiseley. It is a great opportunity to work with Mark Bower and Danny Boshell again and with Martin Stringfellow back again as physio it is something to really look forward to.”

He added: “I am delighted to be coming back, it feels like I am coming home and it is something I have always wanted to do.”

On 2nd June 2026 it was confirmed that Jake Lawlor’s second spell with the club had come to an end, the defender made 345 Lions appearances across eight seasons and scored 23 goals.

He was a part of the team that propelled Guiseley AFC to their highest ever level with a 3-2 win at Chorley in the Play Off Final to seal promotion to the National League.
