Lions Local Heroes – Wayne Priestley

As we get through the Covid-19 pandemic key workers have earnt great praise but a sector often missed out is logistics, we want to thank one of our season ticket holders Wayne Priestley.

Wayne, who was nominated by his son and fellow Lions season ticket holder Joe, works for Kuehne + Nagel Drinks Logistics (KNDL) managing the yard where the lorries arrive and depart from.

He has been working 12 hour shifts to keep the supermarket shelves stocked with everyone’s favourite drinks and meet the increased demands.

Wayne is also the Union Rep at KNDL and has helped ensure the health and safety of the drivers by overseeing that the cabs have been sanitised and are safe for the drivers to make deliveries in.

Speaking of his dad Joe said “My dad has always worked very hard and always strives to do the best he can, and in these uncertain times his commitment to his work and his colleagues makes me extremely proud of him.”

We’d like to thank Wayne for playing a part in keeping the country going over the last few months and cannot wait to see him back at Nethermoor when it is safe to return.

We all know someone who at this moment of time is quietly going about their business, but what they are doing is fantastic. So let’s share their good deeds with each other and give someone a virtual pat on the back from everyone linked with Guiseley AFC.

You can send your nominations in through via Facebook and Twitter or by email to trudi.miller@guiseleyafc.co.uk, just tell us why they are your local hero and send us a photo.
