The Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), supporters of the Football Foundation and the largest funder of non-league football in the country, today announced a grant of £56,100 to Guiseley AFC.
This award will enable the club to develop a new 200-seat covered stand and undertake pitch irrigation work.
The project will enhance the supporters’ match-day experience, increase spectator comfort and enable the club to meet current Ground Grading criteria.
Funded with £6m p.a. from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. The improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.
Phil Rogerson, Finance Director at the club, said: “This grant will allow the club to continue with its ground development programme so that the progress in improving ground facilities matches that of the team as it progresses through the leagues.
“Without access to funding from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund a community-orientated local Charter Standard Community club such as Guiseley would find it impossible to progress and provide the level of family-orientated entertainment to which it aspires.”
Peter McCormick, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund and a Trustee of the Football Foundation, said: “The project will enhance the viewing experience for supporters watching football at Nethermoor Park. It will further ensure that Guiseley AFC fulfil the required grading criteria to gain promotion to the Blue Square Premier Division.
“The FSIF is committed, with funding provided by the Premier League, to support clubs who are rising through the leagues to meet the demands of providing modern and comfortable stadia.”
