The Guiseley Community Foundation is partially funded by the the National League Trust with support from the Premier League and the Professional Footballers Association. It is a registered charity that exists to maximise the resources of Guiseley AFC for the benefit of the local community.
In order to increase the amount and quality of the projects being undertaken. The Guiseley Community Foundation have recently advertised for a full time Development Manager and were pleasantly surprised by the number and quality of the applicants. From a shortlist of seven candidates Steven Taylor was selected because of the breadth of his experience in a similar role with Sheffield Wednesday.
Steve has over 15 years experience working in Community Sport and managing projects involving local schools and community groups. He was the Community Officer at Sheffield Wednesday for a little over 10 years where his primary focus was to develop and manage a comprehensive program of curriculum and after school activities as well as manage and promote the club’s match day activities and holiday clubs.
During his spare time he plays cricket in the South Yorkshire league for Whiston Parish Church CC and also enjoys a round of golf.
He said “I am looking forward to starting my role as Community Manager and I am excited to bring my experience in education and the local community to Guiseley Foundation. I believe I can successfully lead the further development of the sports programme and raise the profile of the club within the community. I am also a father to 3 active girls that keep me busy however I enjoy the variety and challenge of keeping up with them and their various interests”
Chair of the Foundation Phil Rogerson said “I would like to welcome Steve to the Foundation, I’m sure he can make a huge difference to the way we operate. He will be able to increase the number and diversity of the projects we can offer which will make a positive impact in the local community and raise the profile of Guiseley AFC.”
