GAFC Charity Shield Presentation

Guiseley Director Phil Rogerson makes a presentation of two cheques totalling £2,000 from the FA Community Shield to Brian Myers and Anne Turner of AVSED and John Coutts of Guiseley Lions at Guiseley’s game against Corby last Saturday  The 2011 FA Community Shield contribution to the fund amounted to 32% of the total matchday income. A section of the fund is allocated to the 124 clubs who took part in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, hence Guiseley were allowed to nominate up to three local charities of their choice to receive this money.

The Club chose Guiseley Lions, who will use the money for one of their local charities, and AVSED (Aireborough Voluntary Services for the Elderly with Disabilities). AVSED will use their share to run a project in conjunction with Guiseley AFC aimed at utilising Wii technology in exercise classes for the elderly and they will be assisted by volunteers from local schools.
