Guiseley AFC Community Foundation are busy preparing for their Beer Festival next month, there’s much more going on too! Find out all the latest news below.
2022 Beer Festival
After being postponed in 2020, Guiseley Community Foundation’s beer festival will take place at Coopers Bar on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th March. At the festival, you will be able to sample over 20 craft beers, as well as wine and ciders. Other refreshments include pie and peas from Meays butchers, as well as other surprises available throughout the event. Entry to the festival is by tickets only, sponsored by 123 Dental.
Tickets can be purchased at Coopers Bar, online here, or at Guiseley AFC, for just £5. Included with your ticket is a souvenir glass, as well as tokens for your first pint. After an opening event for sponsors and VIPs on the Friday lunchtime, the festival will be open to the public from 16:00 until 23:00, and from 13:00 until 23:00 on the Saturday.
The festival will be officially opened by butcher and Twitter personality Dave Jones. The Community Foundation would like to thank major sponsors Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP, United Gas and Power, MMM Medical Supplies, Bright Mediation UK and 123 Dental of Guiseley, along with all those who have kindly sponsored a barrel of beer. All the profits raised from the beer festival will be split between the Community Foundation, Memory Lane Day Centre, Friends of Nunroyd Park and Aireborough Children’s Centre.
Morrisons Giving Tree
Over the festive period, Morrisons Guiseley set up a Giving Tree, where customers could donate money to local community groups. Thanks to the generosity of their customers, over £200 was raised for Guiseley Community Foundation.
Busy Half Term Ahead
Next week, during the half-term break, Guiseley Community Foundation are very busy. As usual, we are holding our very popular Football camps. These will take place every day from Monday- Friday, from 10:00 until 15:00. Each day costs £15, or just £50 for the entire week. Email alison.leigh.gcf@gmail.com for a registration form.
This holiday, we also have a girls only football camp at Yeadon Westfield Junior School. This will take place on Wednesday February 23rd from 10:00 until 15:00. The day costs just £10. Again, email alison.leigh.gcf@gmail.com for a registration form.
Alongside our Football camps, we will be running our Healthy Holidays camp. Our coaches have plenty of fun activities planned, whilst outside providers will also be coming in to lead outdoors activities and laser tag games.
As well as running these three camps, Community Foundation staff will be helping to finish work on the Tennyson Street steps in Nunroyd Park. Staff will be working alongside rangers from the Parks Department, Friends of Nunroyd Park volunteers, and Virgin Media staff to help complete the repair of the steps.
Queensway Eco Trip
Yesterday, Community Coach Marcus and Queensway’s Eco Committee visited Nunroyd Park. Whilst there, the committee assisted volunteers from the Friends of Nunroyd Park group in putting up the bird boxes the committee had built before Christmas.
After doing this, the group completed a litter pick. Whilst litter picking, the committee were identifying places where they felt there could be more bins, ahead of their meeting with Councillor Ryk Downes after half term.
