Chairman Announces Retirement Plans

Phil Rogerson has announced today that, as part of his preparation for retirement, he will be stepping down as Chairman of Guiseley AFC with immediate effect. He will retain his club directorship and will continue as Finance Director until the end of the current season.

The club’s embryonic community initiatives and Academy team are set to become a larger part of the club’s future plans and Mr Rogerson will focus on these throughout the 2012 / 2013 season until they become established.

The role of Chairman will pass to long term benefactor and club director Steve Parkin, with Neil Shackleton acting as his deputy. Club Secretary Adrian Towers will take over the day to day running of the club as CEO. The purpose of this being put in place is so that the organisation can deal with the demands of becoming a Blue Square Bet Premier club. This will be necessary whether promotion comes this season, as hoped, or at a later date.
Phil Rogerson said “We have been through ups and downs at the club but now we have what is our best playing squad ever we are reaping the rewards of this on the pitch. We now need to ensure that the club organisation is able to deal with the demands that promotion will bring.
“It is time for younger people with fresh ideas to step in whilst giving me an opportunity to progress our community initiatives and Academy team which I passionately believe will have a major impact on the future of the club”
