Launch of The Football Conference Trust

Ian Lucas MP hosted a Reception to launch The Football Conference Trust on Wednesday 25th April in the Members Dining Room at the House of Commons. Invitations to attend were extended to Football Conference club personnel involved in delivering community projects part funded by the Football Conference, Premier League and PFA. The invitation was also extended to a participant of one of the funded projects.
Following his participation in the Easter ASDAN course Guiseley Juniors U12 goalkeeper Cameron Dale was selected to accompany Youth & Community Director Phil Rogerson & Community Project Coordinator Kinnon North to the House of Commons.
Following the reception there was time to look around Westminster and observe the House of Commons in action from the public gallery as MPs debated the Aviation Bill. As the guests of Lord Faulkner of Worcester it was also possible to sit adjacent to the floor of the House of Lords as they debated the statement made earlier in the day by Jeremy Hunt in the House of Commons. Lord Faulkner is involved with Worcester City FC and he is also a good friend to Guiseley AFC and follows the Lions progress.
The Football Conference Community Club Development Fund are already funding holiday and evening football sessions, ASDAN awards and a young volunteer project and activities for young people age 8 – 15 years are continuing to develop.
To date over 120 young people have benefitted from the projects and we are looking to further increase that figure and raise the profile of Guiseley AFC in our community.
Further projects are planned and will be delivered in partnership with Positive Futures Leeds, Aireborough Extended Services, AVSED and Aireborough Thai Boxing. These projects will include additional ASDAN courses, an elderly exercise class supported by the young volunteers using a Wii as the focus, Thai Boxing, football sessions, holiday activities and Inset day activities.
