Former Arsenal Centre of Excellence graduate Beth Stanfield is the latest to become a Vixen!
Guiseley have wasted no time in bolstering their squad in preparation for the new season adding their fourth signing of the summer with the capture of experienced versatile defender Beth Stanfield from Fylde Ladies AFC.
Stanfield, an Arsenal Centre of Excellence graduate, made 89 appearances scoring five times for Fylde between 2013-2017.
In that time, she won the Silver Plate and ‘Players Player of the season’ in 2015. Stanfield also acquired two FAWPL runners-up medals having finished behind Sheffield FC and W.B.A respectively in recent years.
On her move, the versatility player stated: “Guiseley are an ambitious club with some really good players. They play nice football too so I can’t wait to get started and see what we can achieve this season”.
When asked about this transfer and if we can expect to see much more activity in the transfer market, manager Glen Preston said:
“I know Beth extremely well as she’s been our university captain for the last two or three years so when a player of her experience becomes available you don’t waste any time in getting things wrapped up as quickly as you can!
“For me, she’s not only a brilliant player with great experience but her flexibility will allow us to shift between one or two different systems seamlessly which I think will be key in preventing us from becoming predictable.
“In relation to further transfer activities we only wanted to sign three or four players originally but departures have meant we’ve had to work hard to recruit an extra couple, so we are hopeful we can bring a few more players in but we are almost done now.
“I’m just glad we’ve managed to get nearly all our business done in time for the start of pre-season which I think could be crucial and that we now have a top class squad that I feel has the makings of a side that could really make something of this season.”
