We are delighted to reveal our 2022/23 away kit as we approach the season end.
Our new away kit embraces the history of Guiseley – namely as the birthplace of Harry Ramsden, the most famous chip shop owner in the world with a chip pattern on the shorts and socks. The shorts are detailed with a fish batter coloured background which will leave opposition defenders licking their lips next season.
Harry started his business at White Cross in 1928 and moved to new premises three years later, where his restaurant remained for over 80 years but we have used the latest technology to create the new strip in environmentally friendly way.
With assistance from local chip shop chain Wetherby Whaler we are turning potato skins and left over chips (not that there are many) into material made to make the kit, it is recommended before first wear to be washed a couple of times due to fragrance issues.
Harry’s brand has now spread across the world and while the original restaurant may no longer bear his name, he’s still Guiseley’s most famous export – alongside Sooty of course! (Harry Corbett, Sooty’s creator played piano in his Uncle Harry’s restaurant!)
Speaking about the new kit Mr Guld Fisk, chief designer, said “It has took us a long time to get to this stage and we cannot wait to see Lions fans wearing the new kit next season, we have taken great pride in producing the kit. It is the first of many unique initiatives we have planned with Guiseley AFC and the supporters.”
Next Season the Lions will go back to their ‘roots’ to pay tribute to their most famous export by donning this fantastic Chip motif on their away shirts, in this new gear, they’re sure to ‘batter’ opposition defences and leave them salty!
