Vixens travel to Morecambe

Guiseley Vixens travel to Morecambe on Sunday after weeks without any league action.

Morecambe come into the game off the back of a 30 defeat at Crewe Alexandra but they are yet to lose in the league at home this season.

Guiseley look to carry over their form from before the New Year where they picked up 28 from a possible 30 points.

Manager Glen Preston said: Fingers crossed we might actually get a game this weekend. It has been a testing time for the players and staff to stay focused and mentally strong during this period without games but this weekend’s game should go ahead and we are keen to back in action and are looking forward to playing Morecambe.

In terms of the last game between us at our ground we ran out convincing winners 7-0  but we know Morecambe were a little light squad wise that day so we certainly don’t expect a repeat scoreline.

Our only goal this week though is three points. Results have been fairly kind to us during this last few months with all the teams around us dropping points.

“Its key now that we concentrate on delivering a world-class performance with a world-class attitude so that we might capitalise on that situation and apply maximum pressure on Hull, Chorley and Feds whilst getting our 2017 campaign off to the best possible start.

The long break in fixtures hasn’t been all bad, allowing the squad to recuperate from injuries and troubling niggles.

We should be welcoming back Emily Scott after a fourmonth injury lay-off and she has been superb and has been showing a great attitude in training so we are delighted to have her back and involved.”

There is also good news as Liv DaCosta has also recovered from an injury which has kept her out of action for the last month

The Vixens are looking to give debuts to new signing Debs Hastings from Huddersfield Town, who scored seven goals in 14 games for Town, Hannah Poulter and Josie Hewson.
