Guiseley Vixens suffer a 3-1 defeat to top of the table Middlesbrough Ladies in a well-contested game.
Goals from Holly Manders, Emily Scarr and Leonie Hutchinson were enough to seal the three points for the North East side.
A late goal for the Vixens wasn’t enough to spark a comeback in a game which saw them knocking on the Middlesbrough door throughout.
Guiseley started the game well, attacking with intent with Chantelle O’Hara and Danica Roberts going close within the first ten minutes.
On the twenty-minute mark, Middlesbrough had their first real attack and were rewarded when Manders was played through and slotted the ball under goalkeeper Beth Davies to put the home side ahead.
It was then the turn of Guiseley to attack. Debs Hastings charging past her marker into the box, but her squared ball fell to no one and was cleared away.
The Vixens had a great opportunity to pull it level on the half-hour mark. O’Hara bending a freekick towards the top corner but Middlesbrough keeper pulled out a great save to deny her.
Boro doubled their lead just before half-time when a miskick from Davies fell to Emily Scarr who put it away smartly.
The second half saw chances early on. Ellie Hall controlling the ball on the edge of the box before shooting but it was pushed away. The ball back into the box went to Roberts who just sliced her shot wide.
Middlesbrough added a third when Bianca Owens played a ball to Hutchinson who struck it first time from 30 yards. The shot bending into the top corner.
O’Hara pulled one back for the Vixens with ten minutes to go. Charlie Blythe broke down the line before spraying a ball toward the penalty spot where O’Hara volleyed home.
Disappointment for the Vixens who now turn their attention to this Sunday when they take on Wolves Women at Fleet Lane.
