Guiseley U19s 2-0 BPA U19s.
The U19s finished their home
league programme with a useful win
over their local Bradford rivals in
a closely fought and entertaining
match. Liam Robinson and
Fernando Moke scored both goals from
good set up play to seal the
deserved result on the back of a
solid hard working performance.
Outstanding fixtures due to recent
bad weather and pitch unavailability
for U19 league clubs are presently
being dealt with by the Northern
Under 19 Alliance League.

Reserves
The reserves finished their league
programme at near neighbours Farsley
and capped a fine performance with a
two good second half goals by Chris
Davey and Fernando Moke sealed their
victory. With four under 19
players further blooded into the
team its a shame the season ends
here but a bright future lies ahead.

|
Guiseley Reserves 2-2
Ossett Albion Reserves
In a closely fought and entertaining
match the Reserves had to come back
from a two goal deficit to draw.
A controversial penalty converted by
Ossett set the ball rolling and
doubled their tally from a free
kick. Guiseley fought back
well with an under strength side,
due to various reasons, and could
have gone on to win with chances
both before and after goals from a
John Douglas free kick and cool
finish by Fernando Moke.

Club Press Release |
|
Guiseley AFC are
pleased to be able to announce that
they have agreed terms with Steve
Kittrick to remain as first team
manager for the 2008 / 2009 season.
The ups and downs of
the current season mean that the
outcome of the league is still in
the balance and whilst Guiseley have
possibly become the outsider in the
three horse race for the final two
play-off places a win on Saturday at
Worksop Town could change everything
once again.
The Guiseley board
are pleased with the way in which
Steve has injected new blood into
the team and initiated a much more
entertaining style since his
appointment last December. They are
looking for continued progress in
whatever league Guiseley end up
playing in next season and with his
own team around him, feel that Steve
is the man to achieve this. |

Cruel twist of fate |
|
Guiseley Reserves lost this
entertaining league match 1-0 at
home to their BPA counterparts on
the basis of two second half penalty
decisions - one awarded and the
other not. This was one of
those games where the Reserves had
done enough to win in a good general
performance against a decent side
who defended and counter attacked
well. Sadly, only the cutting
edge at the business end of the
pitch was missing. However,
given recent indifferent form this
was in fact a thoroughly positive
and hard working showing in putting
the Avenue goal under far more
pressure than their own was.
With Arran Hollindrake, returning
from long term injury in attack,
settling back in quite well this was
a welcome sight and bonus.

U19s lose narrowly |
|
In
cold windy conditions on Tuesday
night Guiseley U19s were narrowly
defeated 1-0 by Yorkshire Amateur
U19s and took revenge for a Guiseley
win in the reverse fixture recently.
Guiseley struggles to control the
ball and the game with a first half
following wind and went in luckily
with only one goal against them, the
visitors missing several clear
chances and a penalty. The
second half saw Guiseley far more in
the game but lacked good goal
creation and finishing when it
matrered. Overall, the U19s
deserved something from the game in
showing character to compete and
force their game forwards against a
stiff wind and strong opposition.

Guiseley Res. 1-3
Stalybridge C. Res.
A 2nd half late forced own goal by
Stalybridge was to little to late

shown by this young team.
After a good 1st half which Guiseley
largely controlled well but went
into the break one goal down.
The 2nd half saw the Reserves
struggle to maintain their form and
Celtic go further ahead into a 3-0
lead before Guiseley rallied in
worsening rainy conditions.

Reserves draw at Wakefield |
|
Wakefield FC Reserves 1-1Guiseley
Reserves
Playing in dreadful weather
conditions a youthful reserve side
worked hard and deservedly led until
the 87th minutes when the hosts
finally managed to work a good goal
to draw level. Guiseley had
much of the play and scored from a
corner through John Douglas with a
header. Several players were
forced to play out of position due
to injuries and unavailability and
three further enforced injury
substitutions had to be made.
However, the team delivered a good
battling display in the conditions
and circumstances and provided
further experience for such a young
team. |
