Match report – Ladies Reserves progress in the cup

On Sunday the Ladies reserve team faced their second game of the season, a league cup fixture against FC Reedswood! Knowing they had a lot to prove from the previous week the girls started brightly playing at a high tempo and pressing high in the field! Guiseley caused plenty of problems for the Reedswood defence and could easily have been 3-0 up within half an hour, however it took until the 42nd minute for them to break the deadlock, a ball coming in from a free kick and a bit of a scramble in the 6 yard box saw Joely Ruse knock it over the line for a goal on her first start of the season.
The second half the Guiseley players clearly wanted to make up for missed opportunities and looked to maintain possession better, wearing the reedswood players down Guiseley scored again on the 62nd minute, Jess Graham with the strike to make it 2-0! From this point on Guiseley took control, looking ever more threatening when Bethan Smith scored a well deserved goal after a tough battle with the centre half on the 67th minute.
On the 70th minute saw the introduction of Laura Elford and Kate Rawthorne, who immediately took advantage of the tiring legs, on the 80th minute Laura Elford strook to round up the scoring to make it 4-0.
Overall it was a great team performance and a quiet day for the Guiseley defence, which showed the calibre of players signed on throughout the club.
