Kennedy: “I’m Delighted To Be Here”

The ink was still wet on Terry Kennedy’s contract with the Lions when Tom Feaheny introduced himself to the new defender and asked him some questions.

The first few words out of the former Harrogate Town man were “I’m delighted to be here.”

Aptly named the ‘Ginger John Terry’ by former coach Chris Morgan Kennedy “cannot wait to get going” with the first friendly on Tuesday night as Bradford City come to Nethermoor, 7:30pm kick-off.

“I have obviously played under Russ and with Paul at Alfreton. I spoke to them through the Summer, everything about the club to be honest, both gaffers, the players it is a great group of players and it just seemed to fit, it was a no brainer really.” Kennedy enthused following the first of a double training session.

“It is important everyone gets a good pre-season and stays fit, we want to hit the ground running and have a good start in the league. We have got a good bunch here and might surprise a few this season so pre-season is a key factor.”

The Barnsley lad names Sheffield United and Cambridge among his former clubs and watched his friend Harry Maguire in action at the World Cup for the Three Lions in Russia as seen in the photos below.

“You need a good team spirit, everyone seems a good character here, so that should not be a problem, everyone is just getting to know each other and so far so good.”

“I don’t think any player enjoys this time of year, it needs to be done, you need to put the work in but if you could start the season tomorrow I think everyone in the squad would do.”

Well Terry will be relieved to hear the start of the season is less than a month away as we head into the busy pre-season schedule.
