City pre-season friendly confirmed

In addition to the home friendly against Huddersfield Town, the Lions have arranged a second high-profile pre-season game at Nethermoor, against Bradford City on Wednesday 1st August, kick-off 7.45 pm.

The game will be against City’s first team, which is being revamped by Phil Parkinson in his first full season in charge at Valley Parade. Having let seven players from the squad he inherited from Peter Jackson leave or find other clubs, he will be looking to his new squad to improve on City’s dismal form, which saw them spend much of last season just above the League Two relegation spots before securing sixteenth place for the second successive season.

Lions return to the Northolme next season

Northolme

Andy Brown’s 16th-minute goal was enough to ensure that Nuneaton join the non-league elite next season in the Conference after his strike proved to be the difference between Town and Gainsborough Trinity at the Northolme in this afternoon’s BSN Play-Off Final.

From a Guiseley perspective, the result ensures a return to the Lincolnshire-based club’s well-appointed ground next season.

Terriers up first at revamped Nethermoor

NethermoorGAFC are delighted to announce that they will play Huddersfield Town’s first team at home on Saturday 21st July. It will be the first game at Nethermoor following further refurbishment of the Stadium during the close season.

The Terriers, who are managed by former Leeds boss Simon Grayson, are currently participating in the League One Play-Offs and could be a Championship side by the time they visit Nethermoor.

Skipper Simon Ainge - called up to England C squad

England C Manager Paul Fairclough has named eight new Caps, including the Kidderminster Harriers trio of Anthony Malbon, Marvin Johnson and James Vincent, in his 18-man squad for what will be a very difficult International Challenge Trophy Group A fixture with Russia.  The match will be played in the Khimky Arena, the home of the legendary Moscow Dynamo FC, on Tuesday 5 June.

In addition, three players from Conference North are making their first appearance in the squad; Guiseley’s Simon Ainge, Stalybridge Celtic’s Stephen Brogan and Vauxhall Motors’  Josh Wilson receive call-ups after consistent performances over the season.  The other two new faces are Luton Town’s exciting striker Andre Gray and the Braintree Town keeper Nathan McDonald.
