Bantams’ class act secures win

As expected the Bantams came out top in this West Yorkshire clash in front of a crowd just short of two thousand at Nethermoor with goals from Alan Connell, Nahki Wells, Ricky Ravenhill and Rory McArdle.

With the game being played in temperatures more akin to the cricket being played on the adjoining pitch, an even first half saw the Bantams go into the interval one goal to the good courtesy of Connell’s sweet flick over home custodian Steve Drench whilst the Lions’ best effort of the half saw Brian Jensen do well stop Danny Ellis’ powerful header.

With wholesale changes at half-time the game became somewhat disjointed but it was a touch of class by Wells that put the game beyond the Lions as he took the ball down, turned Mark Bower and fired home.

City’s third came when the lively Jon Paul McGovern advanced down the left before putting in a shot that Drench parried, only for Ravenhill to net the loose ball. The Bantams then wrapped it up with Wells pulling the ball back for McArdle to rifle home.
